Sydney CBD · two minutes from Wynyard

The best after-work bar in Sydney CBD.

A hidden New York speakeasy at the bottom of Barrack Street. Happy Hour runs Tue–Fri 4–6pm. Award-winning cocktails, oysters from $4, and the kind of bartenders who remember your order. Late licence until 3am Fri–Sat.

Why Sydney clocks off here

The first stop after work.

Office workers in Sydney CBD have a short list of bars worth the walk after 5pm. Employees Only made the list by being everything the CBD usually isn't: a hidden speakeasy with NYC pedigree, a real cocktail bar with a real kitchen, and a Happy Hour built around drinks people actually want to drink.

We're two minutes from Wynyard Station, four from Martin Place, and one short flight of stairs from the noise of the street. Tuesday through Friday, the room fills with people who finished work and decided not to go home yet. The Happy Hour runs from 4pm to 6pm. The late licence runs until 3am on Friday and Saturday. Most people stay longer than they meant to.

Happy Hour · 4 to 6pm

Tuesday to Friday. Oysters from $4. Spritzes $12. House spirits $8. Bar snacks made for the second round. See the full Happy Hour menu.

Walk-ins always welcome

Pull up a barstool. The bar is the best seat in the house. Reserve a table if you're three or more.

Late licence to 3am

Friday and Saturday until 3am with full cocktail service. One of the only CBD bars that stays open this late without cutting corners.

The Manhattan, properly

Our bartenders trained in New York. The Manhattan, the Old Fashioned, the Sazerac — built with the same precision they were built with in 2004 at the original on Hudson Street.

A real kitchen

Hand-made tartare at the table. 1.2kg tomahawks. New York steakhouse classics across Australian produce. See the food menu.

Live entertainment

Resident burlesque performers every Friday and Saturday. DJs after dinner service. The room is part of the order.

What time does Happy Hour start?

Tuesday to Friday, 4pm to 6pm. We open the bar at 4pm sharp. Walk-ins welcome.

Is there a dress code?

Smart casual. Black tie not required, but the room rewards effort.

How far from Wynyard Station?

Two minutes on foot. Walk up Barrack Street toward the harbour. Look for the red "psychic" sign.

Can I book a group for after-work drinks?

Yes. Groups of three or more should book ahead — Fridays book out by midweek. Reserve a table or enquire about a private event.
